The Skelly Beanie!

Skelly hat2

This pattern is for “kids”, I’d say from 5 – 12? Sorry I’m no designer but it was big on my five year old.  I used an I/5.5mm hook, next time I’ll probably go down to an H.  Also used LionBrand Jiffy though it was a vintage and probably was closer to WW.  I know i Suck.

In White: Chain 5, join to form ring, Chain 2 (or do a magic ring)
Round 1: 11 DC in ring, join to first DC, chain 2 (11 DC)
Round 2: 2 DC in each around, join, chain 2 (22 DC)
Round 3: (DC in first, 2 DC in next) repeat around, join, chain 2 (33 DC)
Round 4: (DC in first 2, 2 DC in next) repeat around, join, chain 2 (44 DC)
Round 5: (DC in first 10, 2 DC in next) repeat around, join, chain 2 (48 DC)
Round 6: (DC in first 11, 2 DC in next) repeat around, join, chain 2 (52 DC)
Round 7: (DC in first 12, 2 DC in next) repeat around, join, chain 2 (56 DC)
Round 8: (DC in first 13, 2 DC in next) repeat around, join, chain 2 (60 DC)
Round 9-13: DC in each around, join, chain 2 (60 DC)
Round 14: Change colors to Black: Hdc in each around, join, cut yarn and tuck away!

Now you have your basic beanie.

From here, tuck away any loose ends and shoot over to http://dawnedonmecrochet.blogspot.com/2013/03/jack-skellington-crochet-hat-pattern.html
She has the PERFECT eye pattern for this bad boy. I used hers. So should you :) Of course if you want a nicer “skelly” eye by all means get creative.

Attach your eyes in whatever way gets em stuck. I used yarn and a needle but hey if you’re in a fix i bet hot glue would work (just don’t use hot glue on kids head while wearing!)

Now stitch up his mouth, I used a back stitch and then went back over it and put in random slashes and “X”s for “teeth”.

There ya go! Enjoy your Skelly hat!
